ESB Connections Event - Online Induction for New Employees
Programme of online events to onboard and orientate new employees who are all working from home.
As part of the ESB Brighter Future programme for their new graduates, we developed some ideas and a structure to move their events online and bring them to life by connecting new graduates, remotely using gamification and smart technology.
The structure contained a series of 2 main events. A Connections Event in the summer and an Induction event in the autumn. These two events were then connected using a self-run weekly kick off challenge.
On completion of induction event we created a series of continually online engagements for the graduates by facilitating monthly online social events.
All of the events are delivered over video conference while using our award-winning APP technology.
Connections Event
The objective of the Connections event was to get the new employees familiar with one another and to have some fun together. For this we created a custom made gamescreen and loaded it with personalised content from ESB.
The idea here is a light bulb which represents Bright ideas, bright future and you can see we have some graphics around connections and connecting the brand values. To pad this out we integrated a mixture of fun challenges.
Induction Event
This again was a custom made event but in the style of a virtual Escape Room Game
The Escape Challenge is a problem-solving team building activity based on the popular escape room challenges, it involves an hour-long collection of virtual tasks, where teams have the chance to solve puzzles, tackle questions and answer riddles.
The team starts with a locked phone’ and they are required to work their way through a series of tasks, which are displayed on interactive games screens, earning points as they go. Their mission is to ‘escape’ or crack the unlock code on the phone within the 60 minute time limit. As well as being enjoyable, the challenge encourages team building and group engagement.
We also used this oppertunity to show back some of the ”best bits” from the Connections event.
The event was so successful ESB came back and asked us to run it again in 2021.
