Nua Healthcare: Strengthening Team Bonds with Engaging Team-Building Activities

The Challenge

Nua Healthcare sought a highly engaging and interactive team-building event for their Operations Team at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny. With 13 participants, the objective was to foster stronger relationships, enhance trust, and create a renewed sense of collaboration within the team. The day needed to be energising, diverse, and impactful, blending problem-solving challenges with fun, interactive experiences.

The team’s aim was to come out of the event not only with a stronger sense of camaraderie but also with enhanced communication skills and a revitalised spirit of teamwork. The challenge was to design a day filled with activities that would be both mentally stimulating and enjoyable while ensuring that the team remained engaged and motivated throughout.

The Dynamic Events Magic

To meet Nua Healthcare's goals, we designed a diverse and immersive team-building day featuring three distinct activities: Dome Works, Code Breaker, and the Kilkenny Urban Adventure Digital Treasure Hunt. Each activity was strategically chosen to balance problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration, ensuring a well-rounded experience for the team.

Morning Session: Dome Works and Code Breaker

The day began with a warm welcome over tea and coffee, setting a relaxed yet energetic tone for the day's activities. The group kicked off with Dome Works—an exhilarating, high-energy challenge where teams were tasked with constructing a dome within a set timeframe. This activity required intense collaboration, strategic thinking, and problem-solving as participants raced against the clock to build their domes. But the excitement didn’t stop there. After the first build, teams were given the opportunity to revise their strategies, promoting creative thinking and further strengthening their teamwork. This iterative process pushed the teams to rethink their approach and motivated them to improve their performance.

Following a brief comfort break, the participants moved on to Code Breaker—an hour-long, mentally stimulating challenge. Teams worked together to crack codes and solve intricate puzzles within a limited time. This fast-paced activity promoted communication, problem-solving, and healthy competition as teams collaborated to unlock the final code. The excitement was palpable as each team raced to be the first to crack the code and showcase their success.

Afternoon Session: Kilkenny Urban Adventure Digital Treasure Hunt

After a well-deserved lunch break at the Newpark Hotel, the group was briefed for the next adventure—the Kilkenny Urban Adventure Digital Treasure Hunt. Teams drove into the heart of Kilkenny City, where they embarked on an interactive treasure hunt filled with location-based challenges, puzzles, and fun tasks. This outdoor activity fostered teamwork and strategy, as teams explored Kilkenny’s iconic spots, solved clues, and competed for points.

The treasure hunt was a perfect mix of fun and competition, energising the group after lunch while promoting collaboration and creative thinking. Throughout the adventure, participants captured memorable moments via photo and video challenges, adding an element of entertainment to the experience. The day concluded back at Newpark Hotel with a results show and a final wrap-up from our event manager, featuring the best photos and videos from the treasure hunt, followed by the announcement of the winning team.

Before: Nua Healthcare's Operations Team began the day with a desire to strengthen bonds, improve communication, and come together as a more cohesive unit.

After: By the end of the event, the team emerged as a stronger, more united group. The high-energy challenges brought the team closer, helping them develop trust, mutual support, and a deeper sense of camaraderie. They left the day feeling reinvigorated, with a shared sense of accomplishment and a renewed commitment to working together more effectively.
